“Dollar Store Divergent” is the perfect description 😂 I feel like the marketing was way off for it and that’s why it’s getting so much hate. I also feel like it was written by a man. Not necessarily a bad thing…I just got those vibes. I had a good time.

It’s not dystopian. It’s a post-apocalyptic military romantasy and I didn’t hate it! It wasn’t amazing but I can see (seeing how it was hyped up) why there is such a strong reaction.

@Jaimee 🧚♂️🐉 🩵 I loved this book! I agree it is not really a dystopian. I was able to guess a plot twist, but some of the other events were eventing! The story and the world was great. I will read the next book. Have you started Shield of Sparrows yet?

I just…I needed a read that I could just, get lost in and didn’t have to think. And this was it. It was light and fun and like you said a sprinkle of dystopian. It felt like a copy of divergent for me especially with the «which side is bad?» in the end but definitely a vibes read :)

Best review so far. This book got so much hate & i really think it was bcos it was so overhyped with misleading premise / marketing which made everyone really angry when the reading experience didn’t match that. If the book was appropriately hyped & marketed, I think we’d all be like, cool, 3 star average, life carries on. Sidenote: wren drove me insane at the end 🙈

I had to come back to this as I just finished the book the other day. 3.5 ⭐️it was a fun time, but the plot felt a little too well wrapped up for being the first book. I was expecting more cliffhangers. And the whole Cross/Wolf thing actually ticked me off. It would’ve been so much better if they had been two different people and were the decision maker in staying loyal to the uprising, or choosing to be loyal to the command/company. And like her only friends either lying about who they were or betraying her? Big sigh

I didnt hate it either, but I think that some parts of the plot got away too fast for a trilogy also the insta love😩😅 cant wait to see what will actually happen in book 2
