Based on his crusty nose, he may have allergies or something else going on (worth asking your vet next time you’re there). The nose can be a sign of dehydration as well as more serious issues but I noticed it’s not always that way. Considering the reverse sneeze, there’s a good chance it’s allergies. Yes, dogs can be dramatic but that doesn’t mean there isn’t some truth behind their actions as well. Overexcitement/anxiety can trigger this also so he may be inpatient/frustrated from underlying anxiety or has simply been still long enough for his body to feel a tickle in his throat which triggers the reverse sneeze. (There are also often a lot of allergens floating around in our cars so closing him in there may make this more likely to happen as well.) My big boy does better when I at least crack the window by him a few inches.

Reverse sneeze. Hold his mouth closed and cover one nostril. His breathing will regulate.

If it’s a reverse sneeze, why does it stop literally as soon as she opens the door and he gets what he wants?

everyone Keepd saying it's reverse sneezing but why does he stop the literal second her door opens? it's just like my dog faking a limp when another dog plays too rough for her

Reverse sneeze… Have his Vet check his upper pallet as he may have a collapsing trachea (which is totally treatable) Can be triggered by stress or exercise; Which is why he does it when he’s upset.

That's a reverse sneeze. Not his choice and definitely not enjoyable for him. It hard for him to breathe.

That’s not faking you seriously need to get him to a vet to get checked! My dog was doing that and found out she has an enlarged heart with fluid!

That's not fake throwing up. Reverse sneezing in dogs, also known as paroxysmal respiration, is a common condition where a dog rapidly inhales air through their nose, making a snorting or honking sound.
