Moveset does matter so Feraligatr is the allround best option for johto. besides that You can get growlithe/Arcanine before facing the third gym which is a better option than typlothion mostly based on moveset tok

PPL sleep on Flareon and magmar. Yes they are harder to get. You dont need really a fire type for Johto though.

I think Feraligatr’s move set is better but Typhlosion is still the best starter because you have plenty of water type options, even if Feraligatr is probably the best water type there still is alot more options
