That's how we got to where we are today. "It's just a word" and "I'm just meme-ing" turned into also using it when angry which turned into electing a racist as President. I'm not saying everyone who uses it is racist, but for those that use it, being a racist isn't a deal breaker.

When i was in school, another member of the jazz band (like 7 kids in all) said that they all decided i was the most likely one to say it unprovoked. I honestly couldn't tell if it was meant to be an insult or a compliment, but i think about it a lot.
