Piston won’t go back in unless you open the bleeder.

U do need to open the bleeder to get rid of the burned brake fluid inside of the caliper. If u don’t you’ll just introduce it to the master cylinder. Only lazy mechanics don’t open up the bleeders.

I’ve just don’t mine I hade to take the whole caliper off the wind back the park brake system bc it’s a motor not hydraulic so had to bleed aswell thankfully it’s only on the back so fronts should be easy

more important is to look piston under the rubber. If rusty..need to install repair kit or new caliber

2nd year apprenticeship and still don't get how the outside pad gets pushed to the disc when the cylinder is on the other side.. perhaps the cylinder also pushes the whole caliper back, and the caliper pulls the other brake pad in..?

yeah you might be right before you push the Piston back and take the cap off the reservoir push the Piston back if the Piston doesn't go back then you open the bleeder

Could you please do a episode on rear pads and rotors with electronically actuated hydraulic calipers?? A lot of people don't know how to do those!

Thank you for clarifying 2 key points…that as they wear the piston comes out more and the fact that you don’t have to open the bleader

Not in every case. My piston did push in freely but wont retract slightly back when realising brakes. Not in every case seized piston won't push in.

It’s good practice to open the bleeder why push dirty fluid back up the system

remember if you push the brake caliper piston in and fluid comes out the bleeder the caliper is fine it's the break hose

it fluid comes out the bleeder then it has to do with the brake hose that's where they get you to spend so much money

Wow I can't believe you said not to open the bleeder !!! You are pushing all that dirty fluid back up into the ABS motor and master cylinder, potentially causing someone a big ass repair bill. BAD ADVICE FOLKS !!!!
