@quietgirlloudthoughts: I’ve done a lot of writing in my life. Mainly long form and creative. In recent years I’ve focused on poetry, though I’ve been too sad to explore that lately. But one style I’ve been a complete stranger to is eulogy style writing. I must’ve rewritten this thing a million times. Maybe it’s recency bias but sometimes I found it hard to focus on the good parts of her life when in the last 2 years what she endured sucked. I was overwhelmed at the thought of having to reference all the people in her life or just putting in all the good memories. I don’t want to leave anything out. But I’ve found it’s those quiet mornings where you can just sit with your grief and your thoughts that allow you to truly remember the person. When it was just me alone, I could feel and really remember my mom for who she was, and all the special things she did with my sister and I. Sometimes I think it’s a crazy realization that if I lived to 100 she would have only been apart of 20% of my whole life. Because really, she feels like my whole life. But I know deep down the little things she did for us— every goodnight kiss and hug —- will transcend time and be with me forever. I usually hate public speaking. But this time it just felt right.
