I flew United once where they tried to guilt people and say they wouldn’t continue boarding until four people volunteered to go on a later flight. The whole industry is out of control.

I used to take the checked bag just for convenience back when they used to hand them back at the gate but now that I have to go to baggage claim for it it’s a hard pass.

When will they give cash? No one wants delta gift card. Cash sis. We want cash. Also once I did this, for two delta gifr cards, and a year later when I tried to use, only 1 was valid.

Gate agent has a bag threshold to meet prior to boarding starts. If they don’t get them that’s when they take it at the end of boarding. If they’re looking for volunteers to go on a later flight it’s cause it’s either oversold due to an IROP or flight is Payload optimized. It’s two different type of things there asking.

The overhead compartment above your seat should have 2-3 rows based on how many seats basically making individual dedicated bins for each passenger and everyone gets to use each segment of the bin how they choose to. Seems like a simple solution 🙄

if they're not announcing the number over the loudspeakers it's because if one person takes a lower amount and then they offer higher amount they have to match that higher amount for the first person too, so still shady but for different reasons than you're calling out

A friend and I gave up our exit row seats for $500 delta credit and hotel voucher once, but then the people who *needed* our seats didn’t show so we lost the credit AND our original seats and ended up sitting in last row of the plane. Never again

Wouldn’t it be better to gate check your bag and board early, than to wait and end up having to gate check it anyway because they ran out of space? Or should they just let everyone take their bags on the plane only to take extra time removing all the bags that won’t fit, and ultimately delay your flight?

🙄 the offer to gate check the bag is made so boarding can go more smoothly, because it takes forever to check bags as ppl are boarding at the end but the bags will be checked one way or the other so it doesn't matter.

I LOVE checking my bag at the gate! I’m not worried about them losing it because they literally just put it right on the plane, and I don’t have to haul my bag onto the plane with me. Win win! Idc when I board lol
