@myteacherface: There are MANY other factors, but when you’re first looking at the school, district, or town you want to work in, checkout whatever you can before you apply to see if it’s the right fit. 🤓 #Myteacherface #teacher #jobinterview #teachers #teachersoftiktok #tiktokteacher #teaching
Also remember: Subbing is chaotic. You don’t know these kids, they don’t know you. Every class is ran differently, and follows different procedures. Your own classroom wouldn’t have these issues. Don’t let subbing deter you completely.

Yes! I’ll be subbing next year for my second year before applying for a long term job and it has been eye opening to see where I DON’T want to work.

HEAVY on the subbing to scope it out!! something that i’ve found really helpful if possible is working in after school programs (like ARCH) for the district you’re thinking about! It helps you get familiar w admin, kids, and teachers!!

#1 would be the best advice I'd give as well... not all schools are created equal when it comes to classroom behaviour and admin support

Also look at the Moms/Parents FB groups. It will give you a sense of the community involvement and support of the schools.

I've been subbing for roughly 10 years while working on my degree (10 years due to needing to take time to grow up a bit after lockdown) and doing that has allowed to develop a relationship with the teachers and admin at my school

This is spot on. And if someone who conducts these interviews, make sure you are actually saying the right school name during your interview. Lol

Get your bachelor’s in the subject you want to teach then get your master’s in education! In my state it exempted me from the praxis and started me on a higher pay scale.

Thank you! I am going back to school to get into teaching and all I hear is negative. It’s really nice to have people give genuine advice.

I subbed for two years and plan to go into a long-term job this year. I was so unsure of my choice to sub and always felt the need to explain myself to everyone who asked why I didn't go right into the classroom. This video was so validating!

i also subbed for two years! I didn't even think I wanted to be a teacher, I fell in love with LBD/ECE. Subbing is a perfect transition too, and you learn to work on the fly
