I personally always remove and clean these pins. Then apply a thin coat of non metallic high temperature grease along the length.. but not to the tips of the pins. I don’t regard it as going overboard and it only takes a few seconds to do c

Heat cycles from braking will break down the grease over time. I always clean the pins, remove the old grease from the bores with a small copper brush on a drill and brake clean. Apply new silicone lubricant on the pins and reassemble
