Ahhh Happy Monday!

Beware the person who cuts down what you’re working on, especially if they don’t take the time to understand what you’re doing and why. Most people in my life are incredibly supportive, loving, and understanding. But I lose it when someone says: “Why are you working so hard? Just to have a bigger house one day?”

I’m like… I live in a one-bedroom apartment. Are we in the same world? Maybe they have more resources. But people need money… to live, to buy food, to pay bills. God forbid someone gets sick… God forbid you get sick. Look around. Have you seen our healthcare system?
Every woman I’ve been close to who died in my family died broke. Where was the money supposed to come from to take care of them? Before my grandmother died, she handed me a 14k gold bracelet out of a broken plastic sandwich bag with holes in it. My grandfather had given it to her. She kept it tucked inside an old cushion under the chair she sat in every day. That bracelet means everything to me.

But I remember thinking: That’s it? That’s the only thing she had left? She had so much faith, wisdom, and love. But died penniless. You can’t take it with you, but I wrestle all the time with that memory. I don’t want the people I love to suffer like that. I’ve seen people I care about live in environments that were painful. I’ve seen people not be able to afford what they needed. And I’ve had my own back against the wall like that, more times than I can count. Everyone did their best then, but I remember it and think about it on long days. When people cut down your discipline or work ethic… there’s no shame on them. But I wish they’d take the time to ask, “What or who are you working so hard for?” before they judge it. #entrepreneurship #socialmedia #digitalmarketing
