well I think it'll make "accounting tasks" more efficient and entry level accountants can be outpaced however AI is decades away from changing the "role" only gonna influence it don't confuse the role with tasks.

Chartered Accountants specialise in 5 areas, Reporting, Finance, Management Accounting, Taxation and Auditing. I think they will be fine- especially since Finance is growing by the millisecond and a lot of fraud happens in companies- work for auditors.💪🏾💪🏾

Accountants and Chartered Accountants are still safe lol. New rules and regulations will always come and when new businesses arrive they will always have a need of an accountant for advice. Every customer will still want that human touch and human advice.

Yea it so might. But if anyone is undertaking an accounting qualification. Finish it till the end! Certified people will forever be valued somewhere else in finance / consulting if accountancy no longer exists. Defo better

Accounting is a broad role, yes most are rule based but if you get into the commercial side then you’ll more difficult to replace by an AI any time soon!

True but I imagine the LLM being used would need to be in house and not just your off the shelf online GPT model cuz of the privacy around accounts etc

Accounting is only rule based in the US, the rest of the world (IAS/IFRS) is Principles based with lots of judgement. It is likely only going to affect admin in the next 5 years.

There is literally *no* reason that the richest companies, particularly tech, won’t rapidly build tools to automate accounting. It’s not if they can, it’s how long will it take to build the internal systems.

AI can't even get the legislation right. We've asked chatgpt tax stuff before and it either gets it wrong or results in out dated rules. I wouldn't hold out much help
