Here is how I set my notepad up before every flight. Space for each landing airport ATIS with frequencies written above each airport. IFR clearance below that (when applicable), and then a space where I write down any ATC instructions I get mid flight. I always write down a frequency change before I put it in the radio. That way you don’t have to ask them to repeat it. Especially useful when you start working on IFR and get task saturated. I also took the time to put my entire school checklist into forflight so now I yoke mount my phone with the ForeFlight checklist open. So much easier and faster than flipping through the paper checklist in your lap.

Glad you recognize that. I actually went to my instructors and told them I NEED to start taking lead on flight navigations because I felt myself getting comfortable with waiting on them to tell me everything. I caught mine early so now I take charge more. They appreciate it
