Before you move anywhere, you also want to go and drive through to visit the property at night when everyone is home. That will give the true story as to what kind of neighbors you will have and if they’ll be nuisances or not. Go especially on the weekends. Also make note of how thin the floors are

don't ask the average utility cost unless you're moving to a place that isn't individually metered. we aren't the utilities company, it depends completely on resident usage. every person & every complex is different!

As a leasing agent at an apartment complex, these are all wonderful questions to ask. Also ask about move in specials, especially around Spring and Winter time, and any potential rental discounts such as preferred employment (nurses, teachers, military) or student discounts. 😊

Don’t forget: take pictures of ANY AND ALL FLAWS you seen in the first few days of moving in. Even if it’s minimal. Send it to them. If they’re good they’ll ask you to do this anyways. But it’s also good in case you decide to leave they done use it against you

also, if utilities are independently managed under your own name, you can contact the company to ask about past rates for said location to get an idea for what they'll look like in the more extreme seasons

Also ask what the guest policy is! Even if you don’t have a ton of friends, I was only allowed to have three guests a month for no more than three days at a time (9 days total) it made it impossible for friends to come over even just for the afternoon because that counted as one of my 3 day passes

Another thing people don’t think about. Natural and overhead lighting. Go during a time where you can see how much natural like the apartment gets if that is improtant to you. Also make sure all the rooms have overhead lighting with a fan (if that is important to you)

I regret not checking the parking. There is never parking in my neighborhood after 6pm. Plus its permit plus the other neighborhoods around so if i park in another block i get a ticket🤦🏻♀️
