Peter Cullen truly was a gift to the voice acting world. Not only with Optimus, but there’s no denying at all that it’s his most iconic role, because nobody else can ever do it- no insult to the others who’ve taken up the Matrix, but the very first thought that comes into mind whenever Peter opens his mouth is “oh dang, that’s OPTIMUS PRIME.” Only Kevin Conroy as Batman and James Earl Jones as Darth Vader can rival that level of staying power as a character, and that is insanely esteemed company to have.
