so around the time the game is based blue and white was normally the colour code for international flights both in the UK and US so it's likely the plane was traveling during the outbrake thinking they'd find a safe area but fuel was more than likely low and that turn used up the last of it

I think what happened was a guy or people were trying to leave the east coast but one was infected and bit the pilot causing it to crash

The theory for plane crashes in the DEAD AIR Campaign is all about how the military shoots down planes, which is why in 1 campaign, a pilot flew near low-ground to avoid the attacks (Possibly due to risks of Infection Spreading more.)
