The way this hits hard because Leona isn't going to grow wings in that he's going to be free. No. He's going to grow wings when he dies. He can never be free, and he knows that. He has fully acknowledged that he will never get rid of the title of "second prince of Sunset Savanna". He has fully acknowledged that he'll forever be in his older brother's shadow. He believes that the whole country dislikes him, while that's not true, but in his head it is. He has fully acknowledged that there's nothing for him. But there is something for him. But it's not what he wants. Because all he wants is to be king, something he'll never be, just because he was born second. He will die dissatisfied, he will die alone, in his eyes. But he's not alone. Because he has family who cares about him. But he doesn't want to acknowledge that. Because his family is what took everything he wanted away from him.

People always talk about how hurtful those things Leona said to Ruggie, and they were. 100%. But I feel a lot of people also take them at face value. Leona doesn't actually believe those words, he's just trying to minimize the disappointment because he grew up too hopeful and was ripped apart by it. But Leona does care, it's in his nature to.
