I have bipolar, very severe C-PTSD, and chronic illnesses like EDS and MCAS. while gardening can be bad for *some* people, it has helped me be functional enough to reenter the work force and Ive had less anxiety and psychosis using it

Psych nurse here- see so many young people get schizophrenia from it. If you have that running in the family it’s like a dormant gene that awakens when you do that. There’s no going back after that. Once you have it- you have it for life. I wish this kind of teaching was given at schools. It’s nothing to play around with and there are public health teams within the community that solely deal with this- early psychosis intervention teams.

My brother actually went into psychosis 3 times. Yes he tried to do it again twice after the first time. The psychosis got worse each time and he was put in the mental health ward all three times. Definitely scary.

It was good for almost two decades but after Covid, any gardening is a nightmare for me - severe panic attacks, depression, lack of self control and psychosis eventually.

It absolutely is important to use it as medicine and knowing how it’s grown processed and how you react. 🤷🏻♀️

Angelina | Married to Bipolar :
I think this is a super smart subject to speak about. People have very strong feelings about the plant. Short-term relief long-term it has made my husband psychosis worse. The longest time stability that we’ve had are without the herbal plant in our life. And I did try to find ones that said it was good as far as clinical data And abstracts and I couldn’t find any. My husband really wanted to garden as we were both longtime users.

I've been a smoker for a long time, last year I lost my son and relied heavily on gardening to sleep and keep calm. I am now going through depression and cannot even look at it because it gives me the worst anxiety I've ever experienced. it really sucks.
