Actually a big fan of this. Your hand (plus your index finger) usually sits mostly on top while your fingers support the bottom, so making it flat would be more comfortable tbh

It's made so your pointer finger can sit on the top of the blade while you're palm rests flat against the handle as if you were pointing while cutting because that's how those are supposed to be used
