In The Netherlands we just fix it right away. If it's on the sidewall then you need to replace the tire. By law we're not supposed to release the vehicle to the customer if deemed unsafe.

Either way it’s not repairable nail rite on the side wall they gotta get a two new set of tires and if it’s AWD all 4 tires

As a mechanic I don’t get it. Inform customer, tell them it’s 25 bucks for a patch, take the nail out, sand it, patch it? Tire glue, bam it’s done.
