Royalty 🧡 This morning we saw Queen Nike and here is Princess Ember who is truly a Queen in her own right too. Whenever I see Ember I think about the selfless and massively generous thing her adopter did to send her to Skydog. Not for any reflected glory or to make herself famous, she did it for this mare she had worked with and cared about. She had trained countless mustangs for makeovers and competition and in my opinion is one of the best and kindest trainers out there. When she was working with Ember she felt as though she wasn’t present and was always looking off into the distance as if looking for her family. And then she watched the short Goliath movie and saw her mare in footage of him and his family in the wild. She reached out and asked if Ember could be reunited with her family. She hauled her from Colorado herself and we stood together on a hill watching Ember run back to her family. I’m not sure which one of us was more emotional. Ember was named Mustache Pete at the BLM corrals and when she went to her family she didn’t go back to her father, she went to Red Lady and was so protective of her to the point she ran off Goliath and Bodhi. Eventually the dynamic settled and they all became family but it was a fascinating process. It’s impossible to know what the issues were but these horses are so smart and have the highest emotional intelligence so I trust their actions. Standing in Ember’s presence is extraordinary and it’s hard to formulate a sentence she’s so breathtaking. I’m glad @photoadvocacy_wilsonaxpe was there to capture this moment and hope we’ll see it soon.
