This is so true. Funeral Directors also clean the whole funeral home, we do our own laundry, mop, answer the phone empty trash, keep the parking lot clean, all while wearing your best clothes to do all these things. Come hang out with us and then deside.🤪

Why aren’t there more schools for mortuary students? I live in Philadelphia PA and the closest school is hours away necessitating overnight stays.

What would be some good questions to ask a funeral director if you want to pursue a career in funeral service?

I can’t talk face to face with a director. The gentleman I would speak to about it passed away over this past weekend. Mr Bowersox was a family friend and always loved that I wanted to be a mortician.

Thank you for that! I am 33 and have been taking class part-time for school. However, I will probably not finish or maybe three years from now. I get discouraged thinking maybe

I went to mortuary school in 1981, we had at least 12 students that had never worked or had been exposed to the field. Not one of them graduated.

Thank you. I needed to hear this. I’m working on my second career, after retirement, and this has been a career that I’ve always wanted to do. It’s nice to know that I’m not too old.

My daughter had a good of a experience as you can when her husband passed a way, the directors were very caring and checked on her for weeks after he passed and she was so impressed she decided she wanted a career treating others like she was treated. She’s got almost a yr left of school

A video in the Tips and advice on the jobs of the services? Funeral directors/ embalmers, body retrievers etc and how those jobs may have to be lived through. I’ve shadows for body retrievers who say they double job! What about the other jobs within the mortuary businesses?
