My 16 month old will grab her book and shove it in your face saying “book! Book! Book!” Until you read it 14 times in a row 😭😂

You need to check your privilege. So many people can not do this for a million different reasons. Shame on you!

Ok. But I can’t even get past 2 pages before my 17 month is gone. What am I supposed to do yell the words across the room to him?!

Shh not so loud. My toddler will hear you. I’ve read to her every single day since her first day on this earth and now as a 14m old, that’s ALL SHE WANTS. All day it’s “book! Book! Mama! Book!” I’m exhausted. 20 minutes? Easy. Try about 6h. 🥲 she’s even got bath books because she’s addicted. Help me.

I used to think the same thing when I was a young teacher. Then, once I had a child, I understood that sometimes it’s just not possible to read at night, every night. Becoming a mom made me a better teacher.

My 3 year old has been read to one million times. Her entire life. My 12 month old absolutely will not have any of it. Neither one of them are screen kids. But it’s like wrestling an alligator to get the small one to read with me.

lol my youngest has started going “read my book” over and over and over until I read the same exact book I have everyday for the last 3 months 😂 (I’m a SLPA so I know it’s important but choose a different book!)

Here’s my question… if you aren’t reading to your child what are you doing with them? Especially before bed but we read multiple times a day with my 3 year old

Can we read things to them/is it as effective to read things above their level? Or does it need to be their level with pictures?
