on one side I feel it doesn't make any sense to have different words for the same concept. but then I realize that to them it's NOT the same concept. In the same way esquimese have tens of different words for different kinds of ice. And then I imagine the play of words that would be possible only in that language. Like, imagine someone putting a pair of trousers on their arms: in English or Italian you would need a lot of words to explain the concept (he wore the trousers would NOT convey it!), but in Japanese it would be literally two words.

I understand it is difficult for those who have not already learned a similar language, but I assure you as someone who learned Japanese South Korean and Norwegian as their first language(s), learned Mandarin as a secondary, and then learned English, English is so much harder to learn than any of the other ones that I previously mentioned.
