Fwiw, I do have a full decade of film images that I’ve taken all over the world, so I wouldn’t use that specifically to discount someone’s body of work.

AI got really good really fast. What’s going to happen (I predict) is that people will become to overrun and beat down by a constant stream of bullshit and lies (photographically speaking) is that the consumer will come to appreciate and seek out authenticity.

I’m so curious how people will begin to value this. It feels like the more advanced AI gets I can only imagine it will water down everything if EVERYTHING is perfect

There needs to be an entire system for verifying — on the camera level and editing level, and also for AI systems (like watermarks). We need a USDA Organic type certification for all creative work

A century ago, photography killed off painting portraiture, but it’s the reason Impressionism and Abstract Art were born. The same will happen with AI. A new form of photography will emerge that requires a human creative process that can’t be done with AI. Wish I knew what it was, but it’s time to find it.

It was the same feeling for me I guess with digital photography coming up twenty five years ago and everything was so much easier suddenly. Then came the smartphones and now AI. Yeah it feels like betrayal and of course it is if you don’t name it as what it is. Or isn’t it? I’m still shooting film and sometimes I don’t even know why. The money, the hassle and then the outcome often disappointing. But sometimes it isn’t. Sometimes it all falls into place. And that’s what it’s all about. The magic, the moment. Let them do their thing and be happy with your wonderful work. There are people who are and will appreciate you as you are. Don’t care about the others. Great video 👍

As a film and digital photographer, I’m railing against AI being passed off as real photography. There are so many landscape photos on social media (FB) that are clearly AI and yet hundreds of people will heart react and tell you that it’s not AI. 🥴
