@funnyleonidas: PTD is Best way to pay off your collection account with a small balance. Step 1: settle for less than what you owe. Most times they'll settle for 50% of what you owe. Start negotiating at 25% of the balance owed. Let’s say you owe $5,000 You can something like: “ in my life savings account, I have $1,000 that took me three years to accumulate. I can pay you now with that $1,000 from my savings account and see if they bite. If they say yes, okay, perfect. You just settled your collection for 25% of what you owe. If they say no, you're basically you're gonna go back and forth and eventually they'll most likely settle for 50% of what you owe. ** If they won’t agree to PTD, most likely they take your money, won’t remove the collection off your credit AND your score won’t increase. Then it’s best to pivot and repair your credit: dispute and delete it with the credit bureaus. Okay, if they say yes, if they agree, ask them to mail you a pay to delete letter. That way you have proof from the collection agency that they promise to delete this collection account off your credits when you pay them off.
