As of today, these are my favourite photos of 2025. After visiting my family in Cranbrook, BC and discovering the Wycliff Buttes — an area teeming with Mountain Bluebirds — I had an idea for a shot I hadn’t really seen before. They’re called Mountain Bluebirds, right? But most photos I’d seen… didn’t actually have mountains. . So I set a goal: next time I visited, I’d give myself lots of time to get this dream shot. I camped in my car for three days, patrolling the fields at sunrise and sunset, waiting for that perfect moment. . And finally — it happened. That feeling every wildlife photographer knows: heart pounding, time slowing down, the world going still. It’s the moment everything could go wrong… but thankfully, it didn’t.
