I used to have this problem and I switched to the green colored frog tape and you get no bleeding

Looks more like a Bob Vila than a Bob Ross trick, but either way, just don't let the first coat dry too long before you finish.

if you get the tape glue warm enough it normally works and stretch the tape as you're putting it in place

Bob Ross would have used criss cross strokes for the white and tap the end of the brush for the green.

you don’t even have to do that just paint the opposite dirrection from where the edge of the tape is laid so the paint dosent get pushed underneath it when pushing the brush up against the edge
