If you're ocean fishing, you need the equipment to be able to tighten your drag the the point where it only gives if there is a large fish or a shark on there. You'll loose more and more fish if you keep going that.

Depending on the strength of your rod and your line lb test you don’t wanna tighten it too much, if you catch soemthing very strong and it’s too tightened it break off, js maybe try to prevent the fish from jumping
