Actually a teacher earns more, imagine a maths tutor gets 40-80 an hour

Teachers do a degree and then postgraduate and training year. We have to pay for all uni years and have 5 years of study. A ten year qualified teacher gets no overtime and works 40-50 hour week and gets same as 3rd year after degree medic. Ours never goes up after that either and no overtime or extra shifts

So starting salary is well above the average salary in the UK? And goes up nicely per level? Sounds pretty fair

I think this is fair . Junior doc here about to start ST-1 . So far in my career even before the rise I’ve enjoyed my job and never felt financially stretched . Yes I’ve had to budget but never the less it’s a more than liveable salary. Let’s try get some positive energy back into the NHS . 🤝

If they make FY1 AT LEAST 40k with the same increase on the other tiers then you have a deal 😅

It is now not only about salaries, but also about training places. Otherwise what’s the point? Get a pay rise for 2 years and after that end up unemployed. Quite a scary perspective…

its the reason doctors are leaving. 5 yrs med school. 2 yrs foundation. saving lives day in day out. and racking up loans to pay off. then we have the public getting angry they cant get an appointment?! make it make sense.

What about the rest of the NHS! Are we not worthy of at least matching the percentage 😭

But didn’t the resident doctors (Junior) get a 22% pay rise in 2024? Wish I got that pay rise

An above inflation pay rise is nice but it doesn't exactly take you back to 2008 levels of pay, you're still being paid way less than doctors were 15-20 years ago

Also this is only for doctors in training, so not every doctor benefits from this.

those salary scales are an insult to the profession, we've got nurses who did not specialise in anything, working in care homes making well over £65k a year, equivalent to whole consultants who spent a significant amount of years studying, sometimes up to 10yrs. Specialist nurses make even more 😂😂😂😂🙌

The 4% + £750 pay rise is for England, wales and Northern Ireland. The salary figures however are for England only.
