Even in the hight of Soviet Union power we had vaccines/medications (they weren’t the best mind u) and USSR/gov didn’t profit from sales of those. There is no overall conspiracy to keep us hooked. Some individuals case sure (oxy)

So many people believe this because it sounds plausible. I love that you provided historical examples proving how this isn't true. Conspiracy theorists will likely just claim that once they figured it out, they stopped trying to give cures, but there are some things that are chronic that we're just not going to be able to cure. Also, when the pharmaceutical industry *does* actually find a cure, they still release it, they just justify an obscenely high price and justify it by saying it's worth that based on what people would've been paying for treatment over time. They did that with hepatitis.

Well, she said something correct, but I don't think it's what she meant - if someone is on birth control for life, instead of until menopause, there IS a problem! But a chronic condition like diabetes will require lifelong medications, you can't just stop taking insulin because you've taken it for "too long"!
