Well the problem is some areas you live in have Starbucks in every corner, no smaller coffee shop comes around. Personally my Starbucks normally is nice and it's a drive thru don't need to get out of my car and it has the flavor I like not every coffee place does or if it does it's MILESSSSSS aways

ya know.. I used to think that too. Till the cost became just $3 less then Starbucks. Along with small businesses dont have a way to order ahead and I need my coffee while heading to work... Its not like I dont feel guilty, I do! Its just more convenient for me

i would literally go to any other coffee shop if they came out with a comparable refill policy. getting small coffee/teas free out of any drink (even if it's like an espresso) has me hooked. i would even probably pay a dollar for refills to support small business, but i need my quad espresso & 2 coffees back to back to function

Even if costs were the exact same, what the small business doesn’t do that Starbucks does is consistently make my drink the same way every single time. I always try the small guys but my order never tastes the same every time I go like a chain

True true true. I saw it happening. When they made it okay to not buy and loiter - they countered by removing charging stations and made it into a utilitarian set up. It’s now like going to a McDonalds- a shadow of what it was.

$3.52 for just a coffee (not espresso or anything like that) is not value. It's not even good coffee, it's cheaper just about anywhere else. Heck even the RTD cans and bottles are cheaper. The most expensive one being Super Coffee is cheaper and tastes better. Nespresso is cheaper, Keurig is cheaper. Your own drip us cheaper.

Before Starbucks there were very few local coffee shops except in SF and Seattle. The proliferation of Sbux lead to the rise of independent coffee shops to the extent they have ever existed outside of SF and Seattle—even NYC.

Things change. I used to go to diner with my dad. Black coffee. You want cream or sugar. Wash down a slice of homemade pie. Diners fine.

Yeah but Starbucks does offer the baristas decent pay, free college, affordable insurance, and free therapy. I do wish the company would go back to their roots as well, but what can we do? 🤷♀️also you can get a coffee from McDonald’s for like $2 if you have the app

Ethical capitalism realize on responsible consumers. Instead of being selective with our money we automatically go to the mega companies in the name of easier cheaper faster no matter how we feel about the ethics of the company
