No it’s not fair to put the teller and vault teller exposed to mold. No bank will put that in a closed vault. She has to mail it to the feds and they will issue her a check.

We used to exchange it if it still showed 1 full serial # and at least 75% of the second one when I worked as a teller

I was a merchant teller & vault manager for B of A for 10yrs.I had to accept all kinds of damaged cash like evidence bags of cash with blood and body fluids found on corpses from cops,this is ridiculous.They have to accept as deposit or exchange bills that have over 50% of their surface area in any condition & give that credit or cash immediately.They just pass it on to the federal reserve to be destroyed.That was policy.

Why should the teller have to deal with moldy money that won’t even go through a counter? It’s considered mutilated she made the poor choice of leaving it outside. Waiting is reasonable.

I have deposited cash to a Chase atm that came straight from another chase atm and they won't take their own $100 bills sometimes.3-6 everytime I deposit. like hello! you had it in your bank already but now it's a problem? 😩
