If an emergency actually happened, any caterer worth their weight would have refunded AT LEAST 50% immediately, just as a courtesy, and then more once she figured out how much you all were overcharged.

Our caterer did not show up the day of our wedding until THREE HOURS IN. The food was cold and they offered us zero explanation. Some of guests had to leave. Our grandparents missed all the dances. We sued and got a full refund, plus pain & suffering. It didn’t make it right but it did help. We eventually laughed about it

Kitchen manager here- while fridge breakage IS possible- she’s a business owner, and has avenues to fix her food supply. I bet the restaurants service wasn’t interrupted that night….

$10,000 is INSANE. I catered Olive Garden and had so much left over everyone got a full course meal to go. I only spent $1900. They came with a whole staff too. And we got a fancy bottle of thier salad dressing as a wedding gift!

It's not your fault her refrigeration failed. Her insurance should cover those costs. You need to send another letter and tell her you will sue if you are not compensated.

You definitely need to sue. 10k is too much money to spend to not receive the proper service you paid for. They should’ve had plenty of time to realize the food was spoiled & then made the effort to replace the food

I hate to point out that 150 guests for $10,000 is 66/guest and in Canada that’s on cheap side for a buffet… never mind plated. Something isn’t mathing….

Wonder why they didn't file an insurance claim for their loss and refund you? Also seems they could've contacted another source to have gotten food to your reception. Yes, I'd sue. A gift certificate doesn't cut it.
