When we found her, she had barely any fight left in her. Alma was one step from the sl@ughter truck, we saw her onion a couple@hours before she was said to load. One eye. A severely damaged stifle. Skin and bones, the worst rain rot we’ve ever seen. She stood in a crowded auction house, unfamiliar sounds and sights — in pain, in silence, and in complete surrender. Too broken. Too expensive to fix. Not worth saving — that’s why she was there. But we saw her! We saw the flicker behind the fear and we chose to fight with her! Our village fought for her!! Alma is more than her injuries. She is gentle. She is forgiving. She is a survivor. She is spicy and full of life now! Quite the opposite of how she was described. She just needed a village who believed in her worth and that we could give her life back! Every day she is another equine who reminds us why we do this. Because every life matters — especially the ones the world is so quick to give up on. Please share her story. Let her be seen. Let her bright light shine in others lives! Because Alma deserved more than to be a number in the pipeline. She deserved a name, a voice, and a future, not just a tag on her tail and mane, identifying her as a possession someone no longer found worthy. NEVER AGAIN.
