Some photographs look impossible, but sometimes all it takes is perfect timing and the right perspective. A person steps into exactly the right position. The Moon lines up with a landmark. Or an everyday object suddenly becomes part of something completely unexpected. In Lima, Peru, photographer Ricardo Cuba Zavala captured one of these moments in 2016. Behind an emergency scene were a pair of enormous golden wings. He waited until a firefighter stepped into exactly the right spot, making it look as though the wings belonged to him. In Rio de Janeiro, photographer Leonardo Sens took things even further. After three years of planning and waiting, he finally captured the full Moon perfectly positioned above the outstretched arms of Christ the Redeemer in June 2023. From around 11 kilometres away, the perspective made it look as though the statue was holding the Moon. And in Konan, Japan, another perfectly timed illusion can be found. The 18-metre Great Buddha of Hotei stands behind a railway crossing. From one precise viewpoint, two red signal lights line up with the statue's eyes, creating the hilarious illusion that the Buddha is wearing glowing sunglasses. None of these photographs were created through complicated editing. They're the result of patience, positioning, perspective, and an incredibly precise moment in time. The photographer simply has to be standing in the right place when the world briefly lines itself up perfectly. And sometimes, that can turn an ordinary scene into a photograph that looks completely impossible. #photos #photography #photomagic #perfectlytimed #perfect
