#1 is true for sure… #2 should be a lack of nurses on floors to get patients out of the ER so they aren’t borders, it’s a patient flow issue! #3 is a system failure… insurance companies should NOT make medical decisions!

Yes, they are but the “characters” that come into the ER take up a lot of time. I could write a book on the drama that goes on in the waiting room area, I’m sure anyone who works in the ER could too.

For the last point, I don’t think it’s failure to refer to a specialist as much as the pt does not actually follow up with the specialist and their problem precipitates bringing them back to an ER

It’s not so much the lack of equipment then it is having to outsource imaging to companies like VRAD, taking it 3-4 HOURS FREQUENTLY for results.

I encountered an ER physician who refused to call in a cardiologist despite my extensive cardiac history and suffering from chest pain. Plus he withhold my prescription Imdur and sublingual nitroglycerin.

I was given a blood transfusion in an er that caused me to become epileptic and have monthly seizures smh had to stop working, driving, and 3 years later a doctor admitted the transfusion caused this

The ER is one of the highest areas of burnout in healthcare. We work in a high stress environment with limited resources and little pay. Many only stay for a few months to years before leaving.
