Some anti-psychotics can negatively impact thyroid health as well. Many anti-psychotics should be accompanied with regular thyroid checks!

I’m so sorry that they didn’t check your thyroid much much earlier. I know this pain for other reasons and it’s a really hard one to deal with. It’s anger and sadness to think about how things could have been different. You’re right to feel it all.

It is possible for it to be the cause of, but a lot of times people with mental health diagnosis have a high chance of comorbities such as gastrointestinal issues (ibs, chrones etc), diabetes, obesity etc i definitely do. Quick question- obviously you dont have to answer if you dont want to, have you been put on seroquel? Bc this also can cause thyroid issues

Woah! Wishing you so much goodness on your health journey! Those TSH are in “normal range” hey? My doc refuses to test anything other than TSH cause they are “normal” but the range they deem normal is so huge 😡

It is very possible, I had early onset at the age of 4. It typically shows up during puberty but it does happen. And if you do have early onset it typically gets worse during puberty. I hope this helps

ohhhhh yeeeees that is a real possibility here. I still have mood swings after years of meds but they are very well just in a normal range according to my cycle and just stress and not out of the blue over the top

I can't say for sure but some people do find their depression/anxiety becomes manageable/goes away when their thyroid is treated. I'm really sorry ❤️

No I don’t think thyroid could be responsible for all these things but the thyroid is VERY powerful. Please see the specialist.

Honey, no. It's probably not the cause of everything, but treating it may really help level out anxiety and depression. Maybe the hypomanic. HOWEVER, please be aware starting thyroid meds can really suck for mood for a few weeks as your body adapts, too.

Yes, your thyroid could be making ALL of this even worse and impacting things.
No, it doesn't necessarily mean you'll be "normal". The goal is to have more good days than bad. The bad will still happen, it's about reducing the frequency.
Oh sweetie, the "Why did they never check?" hit me hard. It's exactly why I said to give yourself time to grieve. It's okay to feel angry, betrayed and failed, because you were. It took me a good 2 years to get past that, and I still get angry at times.
I will say that with TSH, the lower the number, the higher the anxiety/metabolism etc (hyperthyroid). The HIGHER the number, the more depressed/lower energy & metabolism etc (hypothyroid), so it deff requires a little more digging, but have guarded hope ♡ Getting on meds brought my bad days from nearly every day to 1-2x a week on general

I def think it can make stuff worse! There was this episode of astonishing legends where a person describes how undiagnosed Graves made her hallucinate horrible things even w/o prior psychotic symptoms

You know I’ve commented something similar but I’ve watched friends and family get better overnight on right meds. I can’t say it tackles everything but anyone I know who’s on right meds or had part of it removed and on right meds has improved. I know that feeling of finally feeling seen in an illness 🥹 keep pushing ask Dr to document refusal if you haven’t already (sorry if I missed post if you’ve done so).
