30-07-25 Minister of Works and Transport, Veikko Nekundi, has voiced disappointment with the Roads Authority (RA) for acting without following proper procedures regarding vendors along the road under construction at Engoyi Village. The RA issued notices two weeks ago to evict vendors who had built structures from which they were operating along the road. “Demolishing people’s property in this manner is unacceptable. The Roads Authority had ample time to engage with the vendors, make arrangements, and handle the situation responsibly, but they chose to act hastily and without proper consultation,” said Nekundi. Furthermore, Minister Nekundi expressed concern about the ongoing project, which is taking too long to complete. “The delays are affecting progress and could cause inconvenience to the public,” he added. Nekundi stressed the importance of completing infrastructure projects efficiently, ensuring they are finished on time to avoid unnecessary hardships for the community.
