@_konayumi: DISCLAIMER: The sounds and behaviors shown in this video are my personal experience with my cat’s asthma. This is for educational purposes only and is not a substitute for professional veterinary advice. Feline asthma is a common but often missed condition because its symptoms mimic hairballs or "normal" coughing. Left untreated, it can lead to serious respiratory distress or permanent lung damage. **Know the signs—your cat is counting on you.** Listen for: - Mild: Occasional hacking (like gagging but nothing comes up). - Moderate: Frequent coughs + whistling/raspy breaths. - Severe (EMERGENCY): Open-mouth panting, blue gums—**go to vet NOW.** Action plan: 1️⃣ Record a video of the episode—vets often diagnose based on footage. 2️⃣ Switch to dust-free litter & avoid sprays/smoke. 3️⃣ Ask about inhalers (*yes, cats can use them!*). Many vets don’t witness episodes in-clinic, so your description matters. Push for diagnostics if your gut says something’s wrong. Asthma is manageable—but first, it must be recognized. 💙🐾 Share to spread awareness! #CapCut #cats #asthma #education #kittensoftiktok
for first time cat owners who’s cat has been recently diagnosed for asthma and you need the piece of a inhaler go on chewy create a new account with new number and the first product you buy will be significantly discounted for, since inhalers are so expensive as it is. also litter may cause severe asthma especially the dusty ah ones

i know my boy has asthma cuz his sister and mom have it (my sisters cats) he has an appointment in a week. just wondering what the diagnostic process was like? x-rays, bloodwork? or did they just accept videos as proof? i’ve heard of both.

Hey, how long do those attacks last for your cat? Mine has attacks like this that usually only last up to 2 minutes, but they happen up to 6 times a day. I have an appointment in a couple days but freaking out since they keep happening more often.

Air purifiers help immensely, no scents, so no candles, no plug ins, no sprays including perfume & body spray, ect.

It can also be CHF. My cat was diagnosed w/CHF (congestive heart failure) when he was 2 years old. My cat's "attacks" were similar to this. He's on 3 meds, twice a day, for the rest of his life.

This is asthma and it can look like coughing. It can look like choking vomiting, and they can’t get the air out of their lungs. Imagine what that feels like.

My kitty was diagnosed with asthma 5 months before I adopted her and she went from 4 treatments a day to 1 treatment every 6 days in the span of 4 months :) certain cleaning products and dust are big triggers. They can get better!

I just got a kitten a few weeks ago and she’s done this 3 times that we know of. And 2 of them were literally within 5 minutes of each other. My mom alr thought about asthma but now I think so too.

My cat has asthma. Cleaning as much as I can, air purifiers + humidifiers. I also have her stay in a steamy bathroom for about 15-20 minutes once a week. She takes an asthma supplement everyday. If it gets really bad I do have a steroids from her vet but I try not to give it to her! All of these things have helped a lot. You can’t cure asthma but you can definitely prevent them from flare ups :)
