Summer in Japan = hanabi taikai time! 🎆 Japanese fireworks are seriously on another level & if you happen to be here in summer, you absolutely must grab your yukata & put a hanabi taikai (fireworks festival) on your list! 👘 Here are some of my recommendations for fireworks in & around Tokyo coming up these next few months... 🎇 Adachi Fireworks, Tokyo - one of the earliest festivals, it’s moved to May, perfect for those who hate the heat of peak Japan summer 🥵 - May 31st 🎆 Yokohama, Thanks to the Port festival, June 2nd 🎇 also many Saturdays in summer have the Night Flowers Fireworks Festival too! 🌊 Kamakura Fireworks at Yuigahama Beach - July 18th 🎇 Sumidagawa, Tokyo - perhaps Tokyo’s largest & most famous, enjoy roaming Asakusa before the event - July 26th 🥇 Edogawa, Tokyo - it’s 50th anniversary this year, they’ll be attempting a Guinness Word Record for the tallest mountain shaped display! Intriguing 🤭 - August 2nd 🗻 Lake Kawaguchiko’s Fireworks with a backdrop of Mt. Fuji! August 5th 🏖️ Ito - every weekend in August but the main event is August 10th, a little farther from Tokyo but if you’re a Shogun or onsen fan you’ll want to book a night here!
