we have an hourly guy and all he does is stand around🤣 he's not going to make it as a tech due to management enabling poor work ethic. I go home if there's no work even though I can technically get paid. I earn my money though, I refuse to stand around and collect a check. bay clean, tools put away and an empty bay? im out. rather go broke on my couch than hang around the guys I work with🤷🏻♂️

Empty bays are stressful, and not getting upsells is also stressful. A certified tech should never stress not getting paid.

I find flat rate techs only care about getting the job done as fast as possible, even if it's not done properly, where as I'm a hourly tech, I will get the job done near time, however, I will take the time I need to do it right, and do some other things to help the customer, like checking air pressure, reset tpms, clean up the area where the oil leak puked out good, wash out the condensor of all the tree fuzz while the rads out. stuff like that.
