The palace is beautiful, and while yes I understand that their people were starving and they were not the best rulers I also don’t agree that they “had it coming”. If I’m remembering my history properly, the Tsar had already abdicated when he, his wife, their children, and even their dogs were brutally murdered by being gunned down in a basement. I’m not saying they were innocent, but they didn’t deserve to be executed the way they were.

I feel like I don’t see this type of critique on videos related to the legacy of the British royal family - they are/were much richer and one could argue part of an empire that’s more evil. I think people in the West sometimes have a tendency to see E Europe as uniquely malevolent.
