Moving away from home came with so many changes — new routines, new people, new expectations — and embracing Islam in the middle of it all brought a deeper kind of change: one that touched my identity, my habits, and my heart. Canterbury has been the backdrop to some of the most transformative months of my life. Learning to balance lectures with salah, finding halal options when dining out, and navigating student life while staying connected to my deen wasn’t always easy, but it was always rewarding. Alhamdulillah, I’ve come to see this city not just as my uni town, but as a space where my faith has grown, quietly but beautifully, alongside everything else.
