:حضرت علی کرم اللہ وجہہ کو 21 رمضان 40 ہجری کو کوفہ میں مسجد کوفہ میں نماز فجر کے دوران ایک خارجی عبدالرحمن بن ملجم نے شدید زخمی کر دیا تھا۔ وہ زخمی حالت میں 3 دن بستر پر رہے اور پھر 21 رمضان کو ان کا انتقال ہو گیا۔
