@drjulie: 👉 Important tip - So many people assume that when they feel anxious they are not progressing. But when you have willingly taken action to step into a feared situation that stands between you and your desired future, give yourself credit for pushing in the right direction. Of course it is OK to take breaks from this and replenish along the way. Facing your fear will be exhausting as your body is working hard to produce that stress response. So, spend time in your comfort zone but keep the exposure to your fears both frequent and regular in order to see results. For anyone who has severe and enduring anxiety or associated mental health problems and unsafe coping strategies then seek professional help with this before you get started. Feel free to share ❤️ 👉 For more on this subject check out my new book ‘Open When...’ It was an instant No.1 Sunday Times and New York Times bestseller. Available for -48% discount see link in bio. Also for more on the subject of anxiety check out my million copy bestselling 1st book ‘Why Has Nobody Told Me This Before?’ Both are available across the world in over 40 languages. If you don’t want to read it and would like me to read it to you, it’s free when you sign up to Audible. Both links in my bio. If you brought a copy of either of my books thank you for the support 🙏

Not all anxiety is a sign to push through—it can be a signal to pivot, reassess, or even step away entirely. Resilience isn’t just about persistence; it’s about discernment—knowing when to challenge discomfort versus when to acknowledge its message. Without that distinction, blanket advice like this becomes more of a burden than a guide.

Not really. There’s many things you can’t control and dangerous like abusive people, dangerous neighborhood or toxic environment, nothing you can do except avoid them. Anxiety is internal alarm to make me safe

I don’t always need to win and I don’t always need to progress, I feel like these are very capitalist conceptions, but I do appreciate your message and content

I don't like myself when my anxiety has been triggered. I only know how to repress it. therapists have only ever made a big deal about my weight.

Such an important reminder! Progress isn’t always linear, and stepping into fear is a huge step forward. Love the advice about balancing exposure with self-care.
