That feeling you're experiencing is exactly what coloured people in South Africa is experiencing, but slightly worse. Like, imagine the government calls you "mixed", therefore you're now classified as mixed, but half of other races look down at you for not being fully one sided (⚪ or ⚫). So, you choose to lean one side or the other, then the exact race you're leaning towards don't accept you fully because you're mixed. Literally a lose lose situation. Yes, there is the half of each race that love and respect you regardless, but when it starts affecting job recruitment, then it becomes a huge problem!

as an Afghan, i get this quite a bit. i get told i look mixed - European and East Asian - quite a bit. it is an erasure of identity and shows how narrow minded people are when they don't realize diversity exists in Asia and around the world

OK this because people will bring up the fact that I am mixed to me as if that makes me better than other Black people, or as if it makes me different than them
