Does he eat any "real" foods like chicken nuggets or anything? I feel my son has ARFID and lives on pizza only so I was just curious what your son's food list was like. Great job on trying the new foods by the way that is a huge success 🙌

Are you confusing Arfid with being a picky eater? Arfid more involves people being fearful of what the food will do to their system and their bodies are usually very undernourished. Seems like your kid is more picky than anything else. He looks very healthy and like he’s probably just picky

My son has ARFID too and he’s 26 now. To this day, NO meats have ever crossed his lips!

I just got my oldest, 7y/o, into feeding therapy because I know it's more than just "picky eating" Your sons safe foods are the exact same as my son, he will eat mac n cheese & pizza but other than that he survives off Goldfish, Cheese Itz and Ritz

My son is now 22. I battled doctors that it was more than a “picky eater.” We started trying foods, just like you. I’m not sure ARFID was a thing then, as we were never made aware of this. Glad it is acknowledged as more than a picky eater.

I know about arfid but my sincere question is - did you try to offer fruits, veggies and meats when he was very young? What was his response? I know older kids who have eliminated foods but not ones who has never had fruits and veggies etc. we called it the white food diet 25 yrs ago. I think my niece had it

My grandson is autistic and has been given the diagnosis of ARFID. He is in feeding therapy and has made progress, but still has a way to go. His go to is cheese pizza, with the help of therapy he is occasionally eating 1 or 2 chicken fries and will eat a plain burger from McDonald’s. No veggie’s yet. Only applesauce and banana when it comes to fruits. We are going to be working hard this Summer to increase that.🙏🙏🙏

Thank you I am a Sped Para and a lot of our students display these behaviors. I Didn't know there was a diagnosis. "Picky eater" is not always the case. Happy and Safe is the goal, not "eat your greens". 💙
