But my mare has cushings AND horsabetes! (aka Equine Metabolic Syndrome) So I obviously cant give her anything other than grass hay.... Haha, just kidding, she just gets less alfalfa. Per her vet. Plus a ration balancer that is alfalfa based.

50/50 orchid grass & alfalfa hay 24/7, w a quart of alfalfa pellets soaked w added supplements (as needed). My horse has never looked or felt better!

Alfalfa does not cause kidney issues. It’s not recommended if your horse ALREADY has kidney issues because of the higher protein.
