I fully agree that OUABH is the better series but I’m glad I read Caraval first! There’s kind of a big twist for one of the characters in OUABH and it hits way better having read Caraval and knowing some history 🥰

I read OUABH before Caravel. You absolutely don’t have to read Caraval beforehand. But most people recommend it because you can understand some things better and already know some of the characters. Hope this helps a bit 👍

I read the ouabh series first and it was great! Really interesting and unique and I loved all the characters. I binged it in like 4 days. I read caraval after and dnf’d after legendary. They are not the same and caraval and legendary contributed almost nothing that I thought should have known in ouabh. Hope this helps 🥰❤️

Honestly Caraval ia soooo much better. in my opinion anyway. it had magic woven in the pages, ink made from wonder and a love story made of stare dust and fairies

You don’t exactly have to but in my opinion it does make the reading experience better as there are some things about jacks and immortals in general that is explained in caraval that isn’t explained in ouabh and it makes some of what happens in tbona more significant.

I read the first Caraval book, but couldn’t get myself to read the next, cause it was her sister that was the main character. I find her too annoying. (Sorry, not sorry). But I read the whole OUABH, and loved it. I still got hooked on the OUABH series, without reading the whole series. (Also because I found out after that they were from the same universe). So in my opinion I don’t think it would affect you reading experience, from my perspective. Hope you enjoy the book as much as I did! 😁

i believe it has a lot of info that ouabh is based on. I started ouabh first and by the end of the second book I regretted not reading caraval first because for me personally it would’ve hit harder had I read it first.

is it bad that i tell people to read the caraval trilogy before ouabh even tho i didn’t even read the whole caraval trilogy, i only read the first book😭 i understood ouabh perfectly and it’s my fav book series but then again I knew a lot about the caraval trilogy so I wasn’t confused about anything. I still think you’d have a better experience if you read caraval books first !!

I read the first book of caraval when I was 16 and didn’t like it. Now (I’m 23) i only remember bits from it and just randomly chose to read the OUABH series and loved it. Now I’m contemplating reading the other books in caraval just because of the mmc in ouabh. So do what you want! But you can definitely read ouabh first🥰

I feel you. I read Caraval and Legendary, and although I liked them, I found the writing style boring. Every time I try to read the third book, I lose interest. 😫 but I do want to read OUABH so bad ! ✨

i didn’t read caraval! went straight in with ouabh and don’t regret it. i know people say that ouabh spoils caraval but im not bothered about that as i don’t plan on reading it! i loved the ouabh series 🫶🏻

I read OUABH without reading Caraval (I didn't even know it existed at that point lmao) and I absolutely loved it. There's some easter eggs but I wouldn't say you need to know what happens in Caraval to get the plot because they're kind of their own separate stories
