You owner retained with a salvage title, and they just deducted from your settlement what they would’ve made from it at auction. Your insurance went down bc you can only carry liability on a totaled car now. So congrats babe, you’re one of the lucky ones.

So you didn’t have a loan to pay off? And most salvage titles can’t get insurance because they’ve already been paid by an insurance company so legally how do you get around that?

Meanwhile my insurance is trying EVERYTHING to save my car which was hit by a coach bus. And panels aren’t fitting correctly so they are trying to get me to sign release papers without seeing the car.

It probably went down because IF It gets totaled again, it won’t be worth much to the insurance company in terms of value and payout. But hopefully nothing happens and you keep the car another 20 years!

I had rear ended someone and had messed up the seats in my car from spilling coffee and it sticking and ripping the leather, it was a 2011 BMW with the check engine light, failing smog… someone Tboned me and my car was totaled.. has I sold my car prior to tbone I would’ve been lucky to get $2k😅 insurance gave me $10🤩🤩 I put another 10 and have a brand new car🤩🤩🤩

This happen to me with State Farm. They rather pay my entire car than fix it. It was repairable. Took it to my cousins shop and showed me multiple cars w the same issue. They would usually sell the parts and get more money. I said I would buy it off them but they said they couldn’t do that. It took them almost 2 months to get to an agreement.

Make sure to set money aside in case you have to replace it unexpectedly. I don’t think insurance will pay out if it has a salvage title now.

Insurance is like socialism in action. Those who never use the insurance subsidizes those who do. Like with socialism, different ppl offer differing amounts of contributions. It feels like a scam to those pay in more than what they get out of it.
